Buffer
Buffer systems in electronics production are central components of modern SMT and manufacturing lines. They are used to temporarily store printed circuit boards (PCBs) between individual process steps, thus ensuring a consistent production flow. Thanks to their intelligent control, they contribute significantly to increased efficiency and process stability.
A buffer system automatically stores printed circuit boards as soon as a downstream machine is stopped or at full capacity. As soon as the production process restarts, the system releases the stored printed circuit boards in a controlled manner. This effectively prevents production interruptions, bottlenecks, and machine downtime.
In addition, buffer systems support various operating modes such as FIFO (first in, first out), LIFO (last in, first out), or bypass. In many cases, they can also automatically detect and sort out defective circuit boards (NG boards).
